A moment of fun with the three brothers visiting in Canada. Thanks to Dave for stepping in for Arthur. Dave has been known to bring out his Arthur impersonations every now and then.

Hurricane Ridge

This is a photo of Dave and me riding up to the first tunnel on Hurricane Ridge. We met a couple from Florida at a look out and they sent this photo on to Dave when they got back from their travels.

Hurricane Ridge

Dave and I took the ferry to Port Angeles, Washington to ride Hurricane Ridge. It was early on the bike at 5:15am with breakfast and coffee on the Coho Ferry. Once over to the other side it was off the ferry to start climbing right away: 18 miles at a 7-8% incline until we reached the top. The good news is that Dave was happy to ride at my pace and lend encouragement. We took 2:30 to get up - an hour slower than Dave's PB of 1:27. We dedicated the ride to the memory of Gunther Gustav Wilhelm Simon. The view, ice cream at the top and the 40+ minute descent were reward for the effort. To top off the day there were 4-5 pods of Orcas feeding in the Strait of Juan de Fuca. It was an excellent day.

SNT TWO

In March we held the second annual 'Splinters & Tin' wooden racquets squash tournament at the Bentall Club in Vancouver. Lots of fun playing with the old racquets - they really are terrible, but the good players seem able to play well with anything. It was a great event and lots of fun again this year.

Travels of Robert and William

Melanie and Paddy sent these photos of Robert and William and their travels including Oxford and Paris over Christmas and the whole family went off to Barcelona and Morocco. William is doing an Msc in Development Studies at Oxford.

The Attwell Clan!

Brian, Lyn, Mel, Glen, Jenna and Buddy had the Canadian Attwell's over for a braai and it was a great evening! Lyn and Brian treated us to a feast and all of us managed to drink all of Buddy's Blue Label - I wonder if he's noticed yet!?!

We had an excellent work party led by Robin. This is the only ranch in the valley with really good Buddhist prayer flags - one of the many reasons we love it.
