My namesake Robert Attwell on the right and his brother William in Giza, Egypt last year. The travel bug seems to have infected the next generation of Attwells and hopefully will bring them to Canada on an adventure sometime soon! We'd love to see them.
Well, we didn't win the tournament this year but we did manage to have about as much fun as last year and get some skiing in. Another great adventure on and off the ice.
We're off to defend our pond hockey title this weekend at Apex Ski Resort in Penticton, BC. This is a lot of fun with players of all levels and the chance to play hockey outdoors and hit the slopes for some skiing between games. This is the video from the 2007 tournament - it was -10C last year, hopefully it'll be a bit warmer this weekend.
Cynthia and I went skating with some friends on New Year's Eve and rang in the New Year at our favourite local tapas bar. A great end and start to the year. I love the red gloves.
There's no escaping it - it's cold in Canada. We have had lots of snow and all snowsports are in full swing on the local mountains and the bigger resorts. No complaints about the snow; it's the rain that is a problem. Here are some early season shots from Cypress mountain overlooking Vancouver.
Angela and Magnus welcomed their third child, Joseph Henrik Clancy Verbrugge. He's a very quiet and happy guy and, based on the size the skis he was wearing at birth, he might be tall.
