Mom's 70th Birthday

We celebrated Mom's 70th in style with a big party and a lot of fanfare. Messages and photos came in from around the world and friends from all over the area were here. Thank you to all for making this day special.

Cynthia and Angela Verbrugge had a weekend away to relax and recharge their batteries at spectacular Hollyhock on Cortes Island off Vancouver Island.

John's Wedding

Mass Hysteria

As the playoffs heat up madness is spreading around Vancouver and other hockey loving cities. Here we are at our local, the Five Point, watching the game. It takes a toll on sanity as Sam, Max, Cynthia and Mark attest; it's getting a bit wierd. Vancouver leads Dallas 2 games to 1, next game Tuesday night.

Welcome Golf Season

Golf season has begun: yes for you Southern Hemisphere types we actually have to stop golfing to allow 4 months of non-stop rain to fall to keep life in balance. Finally we can commune with nature without freezing to death.

Sun Run 2007

54,317 Sun Run 'runners' pass through the neighbourhood. It took 50+ minutes for some people just to get to the start line!

Go Canucks Go!

It's playoff time and the Vancouver Canucks are playing the Dallas Stars in the first round of what will be a two-month trip to the Stanley Cup. All the rest of us will long since have hung up our skates for the season. These are photos of Gary, Leeanne and Rob at a recent regular season game against Dallas - which we won - let's keep that trend alive! Thanks to Leeanne for these photos - the shot of the Canucks in action is particularly good; this image captures their top forward, defenceman and goalie in the same frame (Marcus Naslund, Kevin Bieksa and Roberto Luongo).

Another Hockey Season Over

A recent photo of Rob, number 7, playing hockey in a recreation league with the Ivey Mighty Bucks and watching the play go up ice: must have made the breakaway pass! I'm pretty sure Dean scored on this breakaway against our rivals the "Fortyish Panters"

Easter Sunday!

Easter Sunday delivers yet again for the Attwell family and we are grateful yet again.

He's Out!

Finally the day has come and Dad has been released from hospital, fittingly on Easter Sunday. We celebrated with an Easter Brunch put on by Cynthia, who never has trouble getting into the spirit of things!

One More Night!

Dad is ready to be sprung from his three week stay in the bone marrow transfer unit and he's VERY happy man! So far everything has gone well. We will celebrate tomorrow!! He's already celebrating with a coffee from Tim Horton's.

Here is a night view of the downtown Vancouver skyline. One last night in the city and home to Victoria tomorrow. There will be some out-patient visits in Vancouver and Victoria, but for now we are just happy to be out and back to life!

Below, you can see an image of the charts that have been governing life and the key data close up that says tomorrow is/should be the day.

Emma and Uncle Rob

Andrew, Kristen, Emma and Jonathan dropped by for a visit en route to a motor home trip through Washington State and down the Oregon Coast. Andrew has his sights set on Bandon Dunes for a round of golf and Florence for some dune buggying. Kristen has her sights set on some sleep!

Not there just yet!

The test results are getting better, but the white counts aren't quite where they need to be, so it's another couple of days in hospital for Dad. Here are shots of the HeliJet serving role of air ambulance leaving after a delivery and Dad on the phone to Diane in Fort McMurray.

Looking Good!

Dad's treatment has gone well so far and it looks like he'll be out of hospital on Good Friday ... a very Good Friday indeed! He's been through an ordeal but he's kept his chin up and is ready to get back to life, work and play!
