Heli-Skiing

The Heli-Skiing Team

Heli-Skiing

Magnus, Rick, Rob Stevens and I headed for an amazing day of heli-skiing last Thursday; what a treat. We really got lucky - 50 cm of fresh snow, a blue sky day, an A-Star helicopter and four buddies with a guide and a pilot for the day. We did 9 amazing runs and skied 30,000 feet of vertical - an incredible, unforgettable day!

The First Half Half Marathon

Magnus and Rob hit the road and ran the first half 1/2 marathon on a rainy Vancouver day - cheered on by Jonty, Elin and Cynthia.

The EPICare Office

It's official: we are going for it with IMPM with our "EPICare" program building on David's Integrated Medical Practice Management, Inc. program. Here are first pictures of the team at work! Yes, that is Gary's Brokeback Mountain calendar - looks like it's going to be March all year!

Running in the Family!

Cousin David Attwell is proof that madness runs in the family! He and brother Tim have both done the Comrades and have earned the physical and psychological scars that go with this run! Time will tell whether the Canadian cousins can pay homage to this feet by completing the marathon. Here we have David with 12 very long km to go! The people behind look like some sort of march of the dead; David has a look of determination, likely to stay ahead of this macabre bunch!

Happy 70th Birthday Dad!

A great party!

We celebrated Dad's 70th birthday in style with a big party attended by all the kids, their partners and all the grandchildren, except for Jonathan who is days away from being released from the special care nursery. To add to the fun we had a real snow storm, which happens in Victoria every few years at most! As Uncle Buddy (Geoff) said, if you don't have a white Christmas at least you'll have had a White 70th! We had a 350 slide powerpoint including wonderful messages from the Attwell clan in York, UK and SA.

The Runner in the Family

Everyone knows there is only one runner in the family, and that is Tim! Tim has run the Comrades several times and the following picture is proof. My friend Magnus Verbrugge plans to run the Comrades at some point, he recently completed the Marathon des Sables (www.darbaroud.com). He and Tim would understand each other when discussing matters concerning running such as prolonged pain, a lack of toenails and hallucinating after 10 hours of fun on the road.

Royal Victoria Half Marathon

Well, a first attempt at a half marathon yielded a time of 1:57:38. Not bad, looking to get it down to the 1:50 range before getting more ambitious.

Happy Hallowe'en

Victoria Cup 2006

The 10th Annual Victoria Cup was held at Victoria Golf Club, for which the trophy is named. We were lucky to have good weather, particularly for the end of October. The battle for the fabled and ugly mug was close with three different leaders on the back 9 on Sunday but in the end Gary Baerg repeated as champion beating Jonty by 2 and Rob by 3 strokes. Next year will we're going to Whistling Straits in Kohler, Wisconsin.

Andreas' Party

We had a little party for Andreas' birthday featuring a pinata and a lot of bourbon.
